Banshee - Bean síde

Ben síde (Bean Sí, Banshee) are spirits from Gaelic (Irish) folklore who are said to appear and cry or wail to foretell the death of a person.
They are not evil by default, but due to their very close association with death they are often considered malevolent or foul.
Banshees often appear in the guise of a bedraggled woman, some tales claim they arise from women who have suffered traumatic or untimely deaths and yet others that the wailing can only heard by, or produced for, certain families with strong Irish heritage, other family members of the person who is fated to die, or people particularly gifted in music or similar endeavours.
Whatever the truth(s) may be it is wise not to attempt to pursue a banshee under any circumstances, and it is encouraged to stay away from boglands outside of daylight hours.
